Watching History

Today we had on the Inaguration events. On our way out the door, I set Grant in front of the tv while I went to get Will's shoes. I came back to find them all intrigued by all the action on tv (or maybe this is just a testament to how little the tv is really on during the day and they were all in shock!) Through it all, Grace was quite the commentator (this could be a career for her...she had something to say for everything!) Thought I'd share some of her insights:

When Grant was crying during the beginning of the event she told him "Grant, even if you didn't vote for Barack Obama, he is still your president."

In the background, we could hear a choir singing "this little light of mine" and Grace wondered if they were going to sing "don't let satan blow it out."

"Barack Obama is new at ruling his kingdom so he might make some mistakes."

"Why isn't she (Michelle Obama) wearing a scarf?" We decided it was because she wanted everyone to see her sparkly dress.

"Where is Sarah Palin?"

"Why is the White House white?"

"Sasha is the same name as the Princess from Princess-opoly."
"OK, I've had enough history, can I watch "Tigger and Pooh"?"

We also talked about white skin vs. brown skin and that Obama was our first black president. She said she has friends with all different kinds of colors of skin and hair. And she thinks it's nice to have all types of colors in her life...if things were only this simple.
