Happy Birthday to Me!

This year I decided to throw myself a little birthday party as an excuse to try out an activity I have been interested in for awhile but just didn't want to brave alone---so, I rounded up some friends for a group Nordic ski lesson.  Cross country skiing is not hard but there are little tricks that definitely make things go more smoothly.  We had a great time watching each other crash and catch on to these newly learned skills.  To sum up the day---it was a BLAST!  I'm a huge fan of Nordic skiing and cannot wait to get out on the trails again!
What an eager looking group

Future Olympians---can you say Sochi 2014?
Cruising downhill on Nordic ski's is not as easy as it looks

After a vigorous afternoon of skiing, we took a little break to rejuvenate and then we hosted another birthday party at our house where we talked about what great Nordic skiers we are.  Then we Wii danced into the early hours of the morning.
This girl is serious about her Wii dance moves
I have some great videos of us dancing but since I value my life, I don't think I will post any.

Thanks to everyone (near and far) who made my birthday so wonderful!!!

Dance competition

G1 as "Jane"

Today was G1's first dance competition.  She was a bit nervous even though she and her entire dance company knew the dance really well.  All of the kids have worked so hard over the past several months to learn their routine.  If you haven't been involved in dance before (and before you judge me for my child being in competitive dance) it is amazing how much discipline and hard work go into these girl's routines.  The self confidence and poise that performing gives this girls is also amazing--plus it is just plain fun and exciting to be involved in the competition where everyone is so....well....not sure how to describe it but watch the video below and you will get a taste of what the day was like!  Anyway, off my soap box about that....

The girls looked adorable and did a fabulous job snagging 2nd place in their division! For the first competition of the year this was fantastic!

Here is a snippet of the dance.  With all the girls looking the same, I kept loosing G1 so I stopped taping so I could actually watch her dance.  She did a fabulous job!  We are so proud of you!!!

Bat Girl

G1's school does a dress up day once a month.  January was "Super Hero" but due to a snow day, it become an early February dress up day.  She was so excited to go to school this day!
