Soccer Princess
First off, I realize I have been horrible about posting pictures!!! And even posting! We've had so much going on here and I haven't been so good about getting on the computer. So just to try to redem myself, I'll post a pic of Will's first haircut, which happened about 6 weeks ago, because he looks so handsome and grown up!
We are about half way through Grace's soccer season. She has the same coach she had last fall and he is really great--up beat and positive and still manages to teach the preschoolers team work and soccer skills. Impressive. He is into the kids passing and making sure everyone gets to score at least one goal during the season. He accomplishes this by setting the assigned kid up by the goal and encourages the other kids to pass to them. This is how Grace scored her first goal last fall and it was great for her self esteem. So, this season, at the first game, Grace actually seemed interested in soccer. Not much holding hands and giggling and even a little bit of positive aggressiveness in trying to get the soccer ball. A few weeks ago, she scored a goal all her own by dribbling down the field and avoiding the other team. She was so excited about it...she knew it was real! She was hopping around and cheering and high fiving her teammates. There are still flashes of the old soccer Grace, giggling and holding hands. There is an equally chatty boy on the team and they engage in deep conversations at times on the field.
Well, today, it was looking like an old soccer Grace day. She was more concerned with her princess sunglasses and matching hairbow and was busy showing telling her chatty friend all about her prized poessions. A bit of dancing was also going on. Then she ran over to Brad and I and told us she was going to score a goal. She went back to the field, stole the ball away and scored. She was very pleased with herself. So she repeated the scene again. I was so proud of her. I am also a bit relieved that she can set her mind to something and accomplish it! She is by no means even close to the best player on the team but she has some great endurance and determination!
PS--yes, she really wears the glasses during the game!
