Middle Man

It has been really hard to get a picture of W lately. First off, he won't sit still. Second, he refuses to look at the camera. A couple of weeks ago while G was at her friends house and Little G was napping, I noticed W was being uber calm and quiet so I decided to seize the opportunity to try and catch a few pics. Only later did I realize the the medicine he had been put on for congestion was apparently making him extremely subdued...hmmm, wonder if I can get that script refilled in triplicate! Didn't get a lot of great pics but it was fun having him cooperate with me for a while at least! I've determined W is trying to perfect the "i'm looking off into the distance being really dreamy" look. And then, I totally lost his attention and the photo shoot was officially over.

Hummingbird Banding

In my old age, I've become quite the bird fan. We have a normal feeder in the yard and a hummingbird feeder up on the window which has provided a lot of up close views of the little birds over the past several years. It's pretty funny because we will be eating dinner and someone will shout out "hummingbird" and we all fly (man, I'm really funny!) over to the window to catch a glimpse. So, we decided to head out to a really cool little hummingbird banding event. They do various kinds of research on the hummingbirds like tracking their where abouts and who returns and when they return. Here is a really cool pic (and a scene that was repeated over and over) and a video of the event. In the short video, you can get a sense of how the hummingbirds were just swarming the area. I think the man said they had been feeding hummingbirds on this ranch for 25-30 years so they have quite the following who return each spring.

The Graduate

How the time has flown....I cannot believe the year is now over and we have a kindergarten graduate! Once again, the kindergarten teacher's did an amazing job at putting a performance together and the kids sang amazingly well. G's first year of school has been a fabulous experience. She loves school and adores her teacher. What a gift to give a child...the love of learning. We are so glad this year was such a positive experience for G because it made sending her to school each morning a happy and anticipated event. G did indeed have a great teacher---one who took time to find ways to challenge G in the classroom above and beyond what was asked of her. In G's own words "Mom, I LOVE school. And I REALLY LOVE Mrs. Jensen because she is so nice and fun and she has really pretty hair."
