Safe Arrival

We have safely arrived in Nebraska after a pretty uneventful drive and flight...uneventful is good in my book! I was a little nervous about the trip when we used up the spare outfit for Will before we even made it out of Idaho. And that late flight I booked with the intention of Will sleeping so peacefully in my arms like he loves to do....uh, yeah. Thankfully he was the happiest little guy on the flight, just way too full of energy! And the man sitting next to us that he kept batting at was returning from meeting his brand new grandson so he thought Will was adorable. Since both kids were up way too late last night, today is being spent recouping on sleep for Will and Grace will hopefully crash early tonight. It is so good to be in Nebraska.

Gearing up for Halloween

Today was a busy day around here but we sure had a lot of fun!! We started off with Grace's last soccer game of the fall season. We thought last week was cold but today the temp was registering a brisk 32 degrees....what a difference sunshine makes though! Since Grace is more interested in talking than playing, I got this grand idea to tell her to "talk to Kellon" who is one of the better players on the team and probably the most silent. You should have seen her running around at the front of the pack trying to keep up with Kellon instead of lagging behind ! She was talking the poor little kids ear off while he was trying to be serious about soccer. The coach made some comment about how great Grace was doing...

Then we were off to the "Boo at the Zoo." Grace had fun doing a few crafts and then walking around to see the animals before the shut down operations for the winter. Highlight of the event was definetly wearing her costume. She is a pink princess..more specificaly "Princess Presto" from the new PBS show. She has the "power to spell" which she is taking very seriously. She can probably spell 10-12 words all by herself and love to write people letters all day long.

This evening we went to our church's Halloween party. At the encouragment of my friend, I also dressed up for the occasion. I was an "80's girl" which Grace kept saying why are you an "alien girl" mom? Please take a moment to try and see the crimped hair.

GOAL!!!!

It was 39 degrees with a 20 mph wind but the kids were having a great time playing soccer...and Grace scored her first goal!!! She was very excited!!!! She has great team mates who at pre-school age are learning the art of passing and sharing the ball---which resulted in a goal for Grace. She is definetly not agressive on the field and after one kick of the ball she will turn around for a thumbs up with a big smile on her face. But, she is enjoying herself and loves practices and games and that is what we want. A goal just made her even more enthusiastic about soccer. The cutest part of her goal was watching her teammate Max try to pick her up to celebrate! Yeah, buddy, she is pretty solid and you are not quite that strong!

It's been a long time

The last month has flown by...for a while there was just nothing really happening in our lives of much interest so I didn't want to bore you with my endless chatter. Then we took an impromtu trip to Nebraska to attend my Grandma's funeral. She had quadruple bypass surgery at the end of August and after an uphill battle of a recovery, she passed away. It still doesn't seem real that she is no longer at her house.

While we were in Nebraska, we got to see quite a few family members which is always so nice. The Little Man also started crawling and in the past week has become quite the speedy crawler. I think he is still a faster roller but he can corner much better with the knew method of locomotion. The dog water bowl is his favorite destination.

Other big news in the fam is that Grace got her first haircut. We were thinking Will might beat her out at this particular milestone but when her hair started to look like a mullet, I knew that something needed to be done. I was stressed that we would cut off all of her curls but much to my pleasure....they are still there!!! And in the humidity of Nebraska, they were so much more curlier! We'll post pictures of the big event soon. I only shed a few tears watching my little baby girl getting her first trim.

Today Grace and I went to a movie together....only her 2nd time in a theatre. She sat on my lap for about 3/4 of the movie which was such a treat for me. I was feeling all special and so loved until she stood up and loudly announced that she was "really lonely for brother William." I will have to say that it is very cute how much they love each other.
